It’s been a hard time after the Holidays and New Year, I lost my initial rhythm and I’m trying to get back into the spirit.

As with other things in life, exercise isn't suppose to be easy. Yet, I’m still here and I will continue to exercise. At the moment, I’m down at approx. 25 minutes sessions in the current program on Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

Here is a photo from today’s exercise, bright and early in the day so you can clearly see me on the on-screen projection.

I have more photos and video material that I will be posting, hopefully there will be more frequent updates. Again, thanks for everyone who reads my blog and give comments. Thanks everyone!
Sat, 05 Feb 2011 17:38:13 Z /post/It_isnt_suppose_to_be_easy Quiz: And the winner is... /post/Win_Xbox_Kinect_Winner

Thanks for everyone who participated in my little quiz to win the Xbox Kinect device for Xbox 360! Unfortunately I have only one Kinect to give away, but if you are not the winner, I suggest going out to buy yourself a Kinect. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a healthy alternative to sitting in the sofa playing Call of Duty: Black Ops (which is soo awesome!).

And the winner is… Trude Martinsen!

Congratulations to her and I hope most of you will continue to follow my blog and make sure you subscribe to the RSS feed if you know what to do with one of those: http://www.fatlossgaming.com/feed

Until next time, be safe!
Tue, 18 Jan 2011 19:50:51 Z /post/Win_Xbox_Kinect_Winner EA Sports Active 2 /post/EA_Sports_Active_2
During the holidays I received the EA Sports Active 2 for Xbox 360 Kinect as a gift. My first experience with this game was that it’s very different from Your Shape: Fitness Evolved on many levels. They are both exercise video games, but that is the majority of their similarities. Read on to get a quick introduction to the differences!

EA Sports Active 2 comes with a heart monitor that logs your heart beat. This is very handy and a neat extra feature that will help you understand your level of exercise and you can see if you are dangerously above or just way below an optimal rate for your age and weight.

Biggest difference between Active 2 and Your Shape is the usability of the interfaces. It’s very clear that Active 2 is a multi-platform game and have not been optimized fully for the “Kinect-generation”. I got a feeling that I was playing a Nintendo Wii game more than anything else. There are just so many options, so many menu items you have to go through just to get started. Your Shape is clearly a winner in terms of usability.

Active 2 have very different routines and it’s a good breath of fresh air after many weeks playing primarily Your Shape. Doing bicep curls on the floor is one exercise I have missed on Your Shape.

The verdict? Get both! They are both excellent exercise games and during winters of heavy snow.
Thu, 13 Jan 2011 14:27:07 Z /post/EA_Sports_Active_2 Quiz: Win Xbox Kinect! Been a bit sick and December have started, which means the holidays season is upon us. Here is an short update on what have happened since last update.

I have unlocked all the achievements possible so far in Your Shape! The only ones left are calorie-based which I will unlock in the future as I exercise more and more.

For the moment I’m going through the Ultimate Men’s Health exercise program. This includes use manual weights. Suggested is 2.5 kg, I started out with 2 kg two weeks ago and currently using 5.5 kg weights. It’s not much, but it does give me a great workout.

Additionally I have been playing a lot more Dance Central in the last week, it’s a good addition that helps with my weight loss, which currently haven’t been very much… If you have Xbox Kinect, you should try it out and make sure you give it some days.

I’m still in the second place, but have not burnt as much calories as I would have hoped. I’m number 451 in the world, up from 499.

Current progress on Your Shape (last week):

Gamer Points: 595 / 1000 (455)
Achievements: 24 / 33 (19)
Completed: 72% (57%)
Thu, 09 Dec 2010 23:10:49 Z /post/Fourth_Week Second Week /post/Second_Week
Second week of living with Xbox 360 Kinect is over. Been another great week, but unfortunately I have become a bit ill so my exercises haven’t been full out.

As I mentioned in my last blog post, the social aspects of Xbox Live is very important when it comes to enjoyment of the experience. All throughout the last week, I have been battling with Neskvikk for the #1 on the Norwegian Leaderboard on Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

When you start the game, it will display your profile where you can compare yourself with your friends. This adds to the challenge and makes you want to push harder and harder. The human brain is tuned towards awards, that’s why it’s nice to see results from the training even from just a quick workout.

Weight loss is a process that takes a lot of time and it can take a long while before you see a change. That’s why the Xbox Live award system and the challenges you can make with your friends, really helps to keep the spirit up.

There is a new number one in town, some unknown individual with the gamer tag RogueBlindsight, which are already way past my calorie count. It will be interesting to see how this develops. My global rank has gone from 577 to 499.

Current progress on Your Shape (last week):

Gamer Points: 455 / 1000 (350)
Achievements: 19 / 33 (13)
Completed: 57% (39%)
Thu, 25 Nov 2010 20:02:41 Z /post/Second_Week Social Gaming /post/Social_Gaming
One of the best things to do with a gaming console, is playing together with your friends. Either over Xbox Live, or locally in the same room. It brings out the best and the worst in us, when we play together as teams or in a fight against each other.

Have yet to try any Kinect multiplayer, so if you want to challenge me, please add me to your friends list on Xbox Live.

Here is a short video of me and a friend playing the football mini-game on Kinect Sports. Enjoy!

Tue, 23 Nov 2010 20:09:32 Z /post/Social_Gaming Video Blog Two /post/Video_Blog_Two
Watch my second video blog, where I demonstrate Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.
